About Prasanna Jothidam

Jothidam means astrology.  Prasannam means udayam (உதயம்) or that which is rising at a given point in time.  Specifically, the term prasannam denotes that which is present at the time when the question is posed to the astrologer.  Prasanna Jothidam is a branch of astrology where answers and predictions are given based on a horoscope created using several factors that were present when the questions were posed to him including the relative positions of navagrahas.  This is not something new or recently “invented” – this is an ancient art that has been practised since vedic times.  In current times, Prasanna Jothidam is very popular and widely practised in Kerala.  Of late, it has been gaining popularity in Tamil Nadu.  It is also important to note that in Prasanna Jothidam, predictions are made without the knowledge of one’s date, place and time of birth.
